Coming to The Island via Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport this Holiday Season?  Good News...

21/11/2013

With the demise of low-cost carrier 1Time Airlines in 2012, the options available when it comes to getting to The Island from Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport have been pretty limited - only Kulula or SAA (or SA Express - I could never tell the difference..) fly into the George Airport - but the prices are pretty well doubled  this time of year, making it one of the most expensive routes in South Africa.  The good news is that low-cost carrier Mango has started flying the route on a trial basis for the holiday season.  The first flight arrived at 9:20 a.m. today.  See today's article "Mango Brings Choice" from the George Herald or visit Mango's website for booking info.

Morrison Road to be upgraded from Glentana to Great Brak through 2015

Work will soon commence to upgrade the 8 km stretch of Morrison Road from Glentana all the way to Station Street in Great Brak.  The project will last through 2015 and reports indicate that the road will remain open during the December holiday periods both this year and in 2014.  Residents and visitors can expect stop-go traffic for the 8 km stretch the rest of the period.  More information is available in the November 7, 2013 edition of the George Herald's article, "Great Brak, Glentana road upgraded" or in the attached file.
