Holiday Rental: Plot 14 - Sandiways
Situated on the south side of The Island overlooking the river mouth, Sandiways has been in the Pocock/Mackenzie family since the 1930's. A real rustic beach cottage (the original corrugated iron walls are still visible in places), it's perfect for a low-key, stress-free, self-catering getaway.
Bathroom, kitchen and back bedroom subsequently added over the years, Kitchen renovated with modern sink/ cupboards etc. Front and back decks added later. Sleeps ten people - four on (enclosed) front stoep, one in side-room, two bunks and a single bed in middle bedroom, twin beds make a king-size bed in back bedroom.

Front enclosed stoep overlooking front deck, beach, river mouth, sea and lagoon. Really the lounge. A favourite for sleeping, and morning, afternoon, anytime tea.
Dining room. Seats eight or more for Xmas and simpler dinners. Bring your own TV if you need one. |
Side deck Usually windfree, quiet sunning space. Braai area in the evenings. |
Back bedroom Quiet, afternoon sunny. Twin beds together make a king-size bed, with cupboards. |
Kitchen Most mod cons – new stove, microwave, fridge, lots of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. |
Inside bathroom with hot water and bath; Outside shower with solar-warmed water. Toilet Two outside flush loos, just off the back deck, privately tucked away amongst the greenery. We did say Sandiways was rustic! |
Extras: Two-person Native American-type canoe, abundant bird life, good fishing, swimming lovely in river and sea. Sea water temperature usually much warmer than around Cape Town.

Sandiways is offered on a self-catering basis, so please bring your own pillows, bedding and towels. Pay-as-you-go electricity is available.
