Island Amenities & Activities

As you might imagine, there's plenty to keep people of all ages and interests entertained at The Island (in a relaxing way, of course!).  Click on a picture below to explore some of the things to do on The Island and nearby.

Annual Christmas Activities

If the above activities aren't enough to keep you busy, each year the Island Residents' Association's Entertainment Committee treats residents and visitors alike with a number of special activities:

- Christmas Church Service held at the tennis courts (bring your own chairs)
- Children's scavenger hunt
- J-Board and skateboard competitions (for youngsters)
- Tennis tournament

Check the calendar or blog for the latest news.  Volunteers are always needed, so if you'd like to help out, contact us and we'll put you in touch with the right people.

The Village & Beyond

Feel the urge to explore a bit further afield - then why not head into the village and check out the quaint shops & art galleries, the cozy restaurants or the museum?  If you are looking for something special, perhaps you'll find it at the Uitspan Market which is held the first Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the riverbank opposite the Spar.

For more great ideas, see if you can get your hands on pages 20-24 of the January 2010 issue of Go! Magazine (or purchase it online from their online webshop).

Of course, The Island makes a great base from which to explore other parts of the Garden Route - be it the Tsitsikamma National Park or Plettenberg Bay to the west or as far as Still Bay to the East or the many places in between.  Whether you are an adrenaline junky, a golfer or a gourmand (or both) - or a fan of farm stalls & craft markets - you'll certainly be in your element here.  Keep an eye on the blog where you'll find day trip notes and some of our favourite places and things to do in the area.
